AC Repair in Ormond Beach

Ormond Beach at a glance

Ormond Beach is a city of 43,080 people (2020) directly north of Daytona Beach, spanning the mainland and the beachside. It calls itself the birthplace of speed, after early motorists raced on its hard-packed sand.

What that means for your AC

Ormond Beach mixes beachside homes and condos with mainland neighborhoods and newer subdivisions to the west. Beachside units need extra care for salt; inland homes often deal more with attic heat and duct leaks; see ductwork and airflow. Newer subdivisions west of I-95 often have two-story homes where one system serves both floors, and upstairs bedrooms can run warm on summer evenings.

Along the Halifax River

Homes along the river get breezes and humidity off the water, which can keep air handlers and closets damp. Air handlers in garages and closets near the river can show rust on cabinets and drain pans, which is worth mentioning at the yearly tune-up.

Nocoroco and New Britain

The Timucua village of Nocoroco stood where the Tomoka River meets the Halifax, just north of today's city, when Spanish envoy Álvaro Mexía passed through in 1605. The city is named for James Ormond I, a sea captain granted land by the Spanish crown, and the community was founded in 1875 as New Britain. Older homes near the original settlement have often been added to over the years, so duct runs can be long and uneven. A spring tune-up that checks airflow to the far rooms helps.
